October Reading Logs: Just a reminder that October reading logs are due next Monday, November 3rd. Please make sure to sign your child's log and return it to school on that day.

Writing: Last we we began our official "Writing Workshop." We will continue to work on our completing our writing pieces from last week and many kids may start a new piece this week.

Pen pals: Last week, we received the first letter from our pen pals. Our pen pals are first graders from Mrs. Smith's class at Pembroke Elementary in Birmingham. Each student in our class received a pen pal. Be sure to ask your child about this fun and exciting activity.

Writing Workshop

Today we beagan our Writing Workshop. Each student has a "writing office" where they can work quietly on a writing piece. It was amazing to see how much the kids enjoyed themselves and more importantly how much they wrote!

Homelink

If your child is having trouble with the homelink tonight, it is probably because we ran out of time to cover the content. Therefore, I am not requiring your child do that homelink tonight. We will cover the material tomorrow. Thank you!

Bag-o-Books

Reading: Today your child is bringing home their Bag-o-Books envelope. There are books in this envelope that your child read during guided reading groups. Your child is to read this book to you, a sibling, or another family member. Please return all books to school tomorrow along with the signed book contract!

Math: We are continuing to work with coins and counting coin combinations. It is always great practice to take out combinations of coins at home and have your child count them.

Wall Words: Today in the computer lab we logged onto spellingcity.com and the kids played word games with their wall words for the week. This site is great practice at home also. The link is called "Take a spelling test" on our website under Wall Words.
