Science
Today we experimented with sand. Be sure to ask your child how sand is formed. We left our sand vials on the windowsill so we can observe them tomorrow when we get to school.
FYI
Fundrun: Tonight your child is bringing home his/her class t-shirt. Please make sure they wear their shirts to school tomorrow for the fundrun. We will head out to the playground around 10:20 and we should return to the room around 11:25. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather and for running/walking. We will still go outside if it rains! Thanks for your cooperation!
Homework Log: Tonight your child is bringing home their first grade homework log. We will add a homework log just like this one each week. This way both parents and students are clear on what is expected each night. Please let me know if you have any questions reagarding this log. I have explained it to the kids and they will keep it right in front of their SPORTS BOOKS.

FYI
FundRun: Don't forget this Wednesday, October 6th is the FundRun. Our class will be running between 10:20-11:25. Please be sure to come and cheer on our class if you are available. All family members are welcome.
Reading: Thank you for helping your child graph the number of minutes read each night on their October Logs. We will begin our guided reading groups this week. Please look for a manilla envelope that will be coming home with your child with a book they can read at home along with information about our book borrowing contract.
Math: Today we practiced telling time to the hour. Please make sure to practice this important skill at home. I will be sending a clock for you to make with your child at home. This clock can stay at home for extra practice.
